  • Advised Australian United Steel Industry Ltd (AUSI Project) on all aspects of its proposed AUD2 billion DRI/Steel project in Western Australia. This involved the corporate structuring and documentation, engineering/construction contracts, iron ore and gas supply contracts, off-take sales contracts and the project financing arrangements (in conjunction with Chadbourne & Parke LLP).
  • Advised the Mt Gibson DRI/Steel project for introductions on equity investment by the Chinese Government corporations involved in iron and steel industry.
  • Advised Enron International's Maputo HBI/Steel project in Mozambique on its steel slabs off-take sales contracts with China, Indonesia and South Korea.
  • Advised Federation Resources NL, an Australian company, on the negotiation and documentation of its mining concession agreement with the Republic of Azerbaijan in preparation for its proposed public flotation on the Australian Stock Exchange.
  • Advised Federation Resources NL on its acquisition of the Mt Chalmers copper project in Queensland, Australia.
  • Advised Consolidated Press Holdings on the acquisition of the AUD50 million Bellevue gold mine project in Western Australia.
  • Advised Consolidated Press Holdings on the sale of its gas interests in the Katnook gas joint venture to US purchasers.
  • Advised on the Shell Billiton Bogusu gold project in Ghana, West Africa.
  • Advised a World Bank financed consortium on the Morak gold project in Mauritania.
  • Advised Davy John Brown (now Kvaerner Davy) on its proposed joint venture with Reynolds Metals of the United States for an aluminium smelter project in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China.
  • In conjunction with Macquarie Bank, participated in negotiations with BHP Power, Sithe, and other power companies for the development of a 200 megawatt power station in Beijing acting for the Beijing Mining Coal Company.
  • Advised Australian Gold Development NL on the acquisition of a molybdenum project in Zhangzhou, Henan province, China.
  • Advised AGD on the acquisition of an interest in the Seven Treasures copper/gold project in Changsha, Hunan province, China.
  • Advised Pacific Dunlop Limited on debt recovery for its joint ventures in China.
  • Advised Ausmelt Limited on aspects of its technology transfer for a major copper smelter in China.
  • Advised an Australian telecommunications technology provider on the disaggregation of a joint venture in China, as well as on a technology piracy dispute.
  • Advised a Middle East syndicate on its technology investments in Australia.
  • Advised ALNG on certain aspects of its bid for a multi-billion dollar LNG contract to supply Southern China.
