New Projects in 2009
With China's massive expansion in the Australian Resources industry we are doing six new joint ventures for China and two major infrastructure projects.
WISCO Hawks Nest Joint Venture with Western Plains
Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Corporation Ltd (WISCO) one of China's three largest steel producers signed this joint venture in Wuhan in July 2009. More details see China Practice.
WISCO Eyre Iron Joint Venture with Centrex
WISCO signed this joint venture in Wuhan in August 2009. More details see China Practice.
Yunnan Tin Metals X Joint Venture
Yunnan Tin Group Holding Ltd, China's and the world's largest tin producer signed the Heads of Agreement for this project in June 2009 and negotiations are proceeding on the joint venture documentation. More details see China Practice.
YTG - Hera Copper Gold Project
We have completed the due diligence investigations and the Heads of Agreement for the acquisition of the Hera Gold project from CBH.
Oakajee Port and Rail Project
We have been appointed on the development of this $4 billion project in the mid west region of Western Australia for the rail and port infrastructure for the Chinese invested iron ore mines.
Major Iron Ore Project Expansion
We have been appointed on the development of this $3 billion infrastructure project for rail, port and mine expansion in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Puralube Oil Treatment Joint Venture in China
We have been appointed on this joint venture in China to develop oil reprocessing plants using German and American technology for this German client.
First Australian visit by the Chinese President Hu Jintao - Sinosteel Signings
During the first Australian visit by the Chinese President Hu Jintao in September 2007 our client Sinosteel Australia Pty Ltd signed two contracts:
- The Heads of Agreement for the extension of the Channar Joint Venture with its joint venture partner Hamersley Iron;
- A revised Sales Agreement for the delivery of joint venture ore production for the remaining five year term of the Channar Joint Venture (sales worth around AU$3 billion).
China's First Uranium Project
In April 2007 our client Sinosteel Uranium SA Pty Ltd executed a Joint Venture Agreement with PepinNini Minerals Ltd for the exploration and development of uranium mining in South Australia. This was China's first uranium project in Australia.
China's First Resources IPO
In May 2007, Yunnan Tin Company Group Ltd, the world's largest tin producer, listed a company on the Australian Stock Exchange. This was China's first listed resources company on the ASX.
