We are the Australian affiliate of the New York-based law firm, Chadbourne & Parke LLP. Our senior partner, Robin H Chambers is Special Counsel in China for Chadbourne & Parke LLP and our lawyers manage Chadbourne's China Representative Office.We have a formal affiliation with Chadbourne & Parke which brings to our firm a major global resource. Chadbourne is a leading Wall Street law firm headquartered in New York and has offices around the world.
In the early 1990’s, Chadbourne & Parke , being a pioneer at that time, set up an office in Hong Kong to focus primarily on infrastructure projects throughout China and Asia generally. Since then, its lawyers have worked in numerous provinces and municipalities in China including Anhui, Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shandong, Shanghai, Sichuan, Tianjin, Yunnan and Zhejiang. At one time, it had concurrently been working on the active development and financing of over 20 electric power and co-generation projects in China.
At the beginning of 2000, a strategic decision was made to streamline Chadbourne & Parke’s China practice and to operate this practice out of Beijing instead of Hong Kong. Chadbourne & Parke also decided to combine its China network, experience and skills in affiliation with Chambers & Company.
Through our affiliation, we manage their Beijing Representative Office and it is staffed with our lawyers. Our senior partner, Mr Chambers has been appointed Special Counsel – China for their international law practice. He is also the Chief Representative of Chadbourne’s Beijing Representative Office. The China office is located in the Beijing Fortune Centre in the Chaoyang District of Beijing.
